CMV Architect: THE PROJECT

PROBLEMS:
- Difficult access to the river
- Big gap between the river and the city

STRENGHTS:
- Base of bridges arches on wich you can almost touch the water
- Tilted surfaces that you can climb on

INSPIRATION:
Water tracks:
- when the river runs up it brakes the straight, continous line of the benches; - after a flood the river leaves its sands on the benches and the water, going away, draws new tracks

PROJECT:
Tracks become surfaces and then volumes, using the big gap between Rome and its river, like a white sheet on wich I drew my utopic Tiber life. In the volumes there are houses, public services, sport facilities... In the 12 meters gap the city can finally meet its own river, climbing on the new surfaces, walking inside the volumes, listening to the sound of water.

TRACES AND SURFACES

TRACES AND SURFACES it's a project that's try to work on the gap between Rome and its river, created in the 1870 with the constructin of the new banks.
The Tiber river represents the birth of the ancient Rome and it's ever been a food and energy resource but at the same time its "strong personality" destroyed bridges, buindings and life several times.
Now the river is almost invisible from the top to the romans and it runs quietly, but if you go down on its benches, you can still feel all its power that comes from far away, that you know through myths and legends.
The project is set on the Tiberin Island, as the ancient point of origin of the City, and it wanna be a new pulse for the new urbanization of the banks in south and north direction, with different functions.
